FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake is a vibrant and lively community of residents ages 80-85 on average. They enjoy numerous weekly activities including bingo, pet therapy, exercise classes, music programs, and general socializing.
We believe that hosting activities of all kinds is vital to emotional wellbeing and healthy active aging. Our attentive staff plans activities every month that target all aspects of health and wellness. We offer events such as bingo, educational programs, church services, wellness center memberships, pet therapy, musical performances, and boating trips.
Our community is located adjacent to the Westlake Towne Center, a local shopping area that includes Kroger, several restaurants, a movie theater, and a plethora of small businesses. Also adjacent our property, the Carilion Wellness Center partners with Runk & Pratt to provide residents with easy access to exercise equipment and an indoor pool to promote a healthy lifestyle.
While we provide transportation to and from certain special off-campus activities, we do not offer daily or regular transportation services.
At Runk & Pratt, our menu was created with consultation from a professional dietician to ensure all options are healthy and nutritious. Special diets are available to suit individual residents' needs upon request.
Resident safety in our community is a high priority for our staff. We implement a secure memory support unit with remotely triggered doors so that residents do not wander outside the building. We also implement door alarms and a call bell pendant system so that residents have round-the-clock access to our staff, especially in the case of a fall or other emergency.
Our staff keeps families in the loop about activities, events, and the health of their loved ones primarily via email. Should a family member visit our campus, we have flyers and posters that announce event information. Additionally, our administrators are always more than happy to meet in person with families of residents.
Day: 1 staff per 10 residents
Night: 1 staff per 12 residents
Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake does not allow pets.
Our staff members receive annual training for dementia, Alzheimer's, residents' rights, OSHA, HIPPA, and MSDS.
