FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Our average age is 82 in assisted living. The Main Street bar seems to be a very popular place, with many activities including tailgating and bingo. The sweet shop has an ice cream social every Saturday and we have sweets for you to buy as well. The Main Street Theater is also very popular. We have a men’s and women’s club, book club, garden club and are working on a bridge club.

We offer stretching, exercise, meditation, devotions, seated volleyball, bar bingo, happy hours, 2 movies a day, karaoke, cooking demonstrations, a men’s club and women’s club and garden club. We also have a book club. We have sip and stroke art events twice a week. We have a walking club that covers our 8 acres 2 times a week. We also have great areas to watch your favorite Georgia Bulldogs and other teams. We listen to our residents and will accomidate their wants and needs for activities.
Athens GA is known for our blend of southern heritage and eclectic charm. Spend the morning strolling through Georgia's official art museum and botanical garden, step back in time at our historic house museums, and discover hidden gems and locally-made finds around town. No matter who you are, you'll find attractions that are just your speed in Athens. We have 2 hospitals within 5 miles of Orchard and 2 medical campuses within 3 miles. Shopping starts within 2 miles.
We have a community bus that runs 5 days a week. We do have a lift on our bus, so those people that have a hard time walking up the steps, can be lifted onto the bus. We do excursions around town, in the north GA mountains and up to Cherokee to gamble. We take people to their Doctor appointments one day a week.
If there is one thing we want you to know about Orchard, it is our passion for food. You can expect delicious well balances nutrition, thoughtful creative food presentation, memorable experiences, and personal choice every day from a team that listens and takes pride in their service. We have many accommodations to offer residents with changing dietary needs.
Orchard's hallways are wide and have supportive banisters as well as comfortable places to rest if needed. All our bathrooms are ADA accommodated. Our residents wear emergency pendants. We also have emergency pull cords in the shower, by the toilet and by the bed. Our community is totally secured with one entrance and exit located under our portico. We have a concierge desk staffed from 8 AM until 8 PM to monitor who comes and goes.
We use a great app called Sagely to alert the families of all the activites of your loved ones. participate in. You even get pictures of the activity.
We are very transparent about your loved one’s care. Our concierge staff alerts all managers daily to any issues brought to them. Our care staff includes Grove supervisors that are watching over each of our 4 Groves. They act as the family contact; however, the management staff is always available to discuss any issues with the family. Our Executive Director has an open-door policy and will meet with any family when needed. We keep the families informed of any changes in you loved one’s health.
Each Orchard Grove consists of its own care team whose skill sets are matched and trained for working consistently with the same residents. This approach helps us to ensure that our residents’ routines, habits, and preferences are always known and respected. Our Maple Grove has the residents needing the heaviest level of care and will have a 4 to 1 ratio while the other Groves will run from 5 to 1 to 8 to 1 depending on the needs of the Grove.
We do accept pets on a case by case basis. We have our 7 courtyards as well as greenspace all around our community for your pets. The owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
Orchard has dementia specialists that provide monthly ongoing hands on training to our staff. They also meet with the families to answer any questions about their loved ones. We also provide Dementia Friends training to all staff. We provide ongoing training to all Groves for all levels of care.
