FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
In general. we have a very active group with some residents that are totally independent to residents who need full assistance with care. It's a motivated group that does exercise, self initiates doing crafts in the craft room and outings are really popular. It's also an intellectual group that enjoys trivia challenges with our sister communities.
We make sure that our calendar represents the six dimensions of wellness. We have an instructor who comes in to do physical exercise classes, we do cognitive tasks such as trivia challenges, we have a demo kitchen where guest chefs come and do cooking demonstrations, we have great amenity spaces to support our calendar. Residents can enjoy reading in our library, playing games in our game room, and enjoy happy hour in our Pub.
We are tucked away from most commercial places and thus the residents can enjoy the serenity of the woods around them. We have a beautiful courtyard to relax in. One could walk to the gas station but that is about it. We are in close driving proximity to grocery stores and restaurants and the Mall of Georgia is less than 10 miles away offering lots of shopping and dining options.
We have a bus that takes the residents on outings. Included in rent is transportation to one appointment weekly, with the requirement that the appointment is within 10 miles of the community.
Phoenix Senior Living pours a lot of resources into it's dining program. Crandall Dietitians oversees our menus to ensure that they are well balanced and nutritionally planned. We offer two entrees to choose from and an always available menu so that our residents always have choice. We serve restaurant style with servers so our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. We have monthly Sunday brunches and cookouts during the summer.
We have a concierge that greets guests during the day and the front door is locked in the evening and guests are required to be buzzed in after hours. We have pull cords in each apartment for assistance as well as a pendant option available that works with the call system. The apartments are locked by key fob and we can run a report showing who has opened and entered the apartment if needed.
All of our managers have an open door policy of course. We utilize technology to make announcements as needed via email or text, whichever is a family preference. We employ a Family Experience Director who communicates with family members as needed to augment our nurse and give the family members more access to clinical information. We conduct care plan review meetings and communicate changes according to family member preference. We ask for all of those preferences during the pre-move in paperwork so that we can provide individual approaches and options.
We use variable staffing to meet the needs of the current resident population. We utilize an electronic record system that allows us to know exactly what care needs are in our community each day, thus giving us a suggested care ratio so it can vary according to needs. We are often well over state requirements.
We accept dogs and cats with some restrictions in place. We have a nice courtyard and a walking path around our community.
We require all of our team to go through the Certified Dementia Practitioner course offered through the NCCDP which is an additional eight hours of training on dementia. Beyond that we offer monthly training during our Town Hall meetings and position specific training as needed.
We have a secure memory care neighborhood with a secure courtyard for residents who wander.
