Magnolia Trails Memory Care at The Wellington at Dayton focuses on 5 pillars of care that create a distinct approach to our memory care program. The pillars guide us as we provide residents with a tailored care plan designed to meet them where they are on their journey at any given moment. This determines how we interact, the activities we propose, the environment we create and the type of food we provide. Pillar 3 focuses on "Embracing Moments" with all day programming that is responsive and offers flexible time for our residents, enabling them to choose their activities throughout the entire day. Creativity boxes offer activities of engagement, and interactive stations are always available allowing staff to continue learning resident's personal traits, histories and interests. Our full calendar of activities and events is created with thoughtful process to allow time for brain stimulation, creative engagement and physical exercise.
Upon hire, staff receive orientation, following department specific training online and in-person. Monthly in-services and online senior care training is provided and required among all staff.

We believe in strong communication with ever-changing care needs. Care conferences for our Assisted Living residents are scheduled quarterly and updates are provided on a regular basis, to ensure continuity of care.
Through the Magnolia Trails Food and Nutrition pillar, we ensure our residents are receiving the proper nutrition by adapting the food we serve and how we serve it based on their particular needs. We offer specific options served in high contrast, solid colored dishes and simple table setting in a calm, relaxing environment with light music and inviting aromas. We offer puree and mechanical soft options with physician orders. Staff offer hand-over-hand assistance during meal times when needed.
Staff receive Magnolia Trails specific training online and in-person prior to working directly with residents. Staff take a dementia knowledge hiring exam and are required to complete additional, on-going training for at least 2 hours each quarter. All staff also receive quarterly training in memory care practices and techniques. Each new hire is taught how to embrace the residents individually and how to provide positive memory care focused programming.

Residents are assessed by The Wellington at Dayton Wellness Director, Wellness Director Assistant or Magnolia Trails Director. Assessments are repeated quarterly unless a change in condition constitutes the need for a sooner assessment.
