We have a direct care ratio of 5:1. That ratio is for staff only, we do not include the administrator, assistant, cooks or maintenance crew in our ratios.
We unfortunately do not allow pets within the building in order to safeguard our patients. Visitors with pets will use of one of the outdoor porches.
The beauty of a smaller facility is that we customize our menu to our patients needs and desires. We can handle all doctor assigned diet's. All of our foods are made from scratch, we are not a big franchise that serves cafeteria foods.
Although we are not a locked building there are three call bell's in each resident room. Two in the room itself and 1 in the bathroom. We also have a separate system which includes a lanyard for cognitively aware residents to call for help (similar to life alert). The system also incorporates a pressure pad which is situated between the mattress and box spring. When a patient begins to sit up the weight difference will alert the nurse station that the resident is getting up. This system is incredibly helpful to minimize falls. We also have chimes on every doors that notify us when anybody enters or exits the building.
We have chimes on all of our doors and have a low staff to resident ratio. We do not accept an exit seeking wanderer patient.
We are family owned and available to families at all times. Seven days a week, 24 hours. We call families with all issues and ask permission to change any medicines (with doctors orders). Families should always be aware of their loved ones medical conditions and should never be surprised with pharmacy bills that they are not aware of. Proper communication is vital to patients welfare and happiness.
