What You Should Know About The Abbey at Westminster Plaza Assisted Living & Memory Care
The Abbey at Westminster Plaza is one of Houstons finest Assisted Living Communities. It is privately owned and operated by a Texas family with over 70 years of industry experience. Our Assisted Senior Living was the vision of Mrs. Ottis Lake, a professional nurse, who dedicated her life to see that those needing nursing and assistance would receive the best care available. Her dream to build and provide a nursing care facility for seniors came to fruition with the help of a prominent Tyler oilman, Mr. J. Burns Brown and his wife. Mrs. Lake opened her first very up-scale facility licensed for 54 beds. Our long history of caring for people is reflected by our elegant design and our attention to detail, giving our residents the sense of peace, comfort, and security they deserve.
Mrs. Lake and a handful of very willing colleagues successfully lobbied the State Legislature in Austin for minimum standards and licensing regulations. Her high expectations helped to establish a historic benchmark for care of the elderly.
Memory Care at The Abbey is a great feature of ours. We refer to our Memory Care as Kensington.
Who is Kensington designed for? If a loved one of yours has Alzheimers, dementia, or other cognitive conditions, memory care is perfect for them. Kensington provides structure, safety, and a sense of purpose for our residents.
Our experienced, loving staff provides specialized care to those with dementia or other cognitive conditions. Kensington is secured so you wont have to worry about your loved ones getting lost in our space. Your loved ones can be sure to enjoy a safe and engaging environment with tailored programs designed to meet their needs every step of the way. We have several amenities available to our residents and families can choose between a private or semi-private apartment. Our team is available 24/7 to meet the needs of our residents and you can trust us to take great care of your loved ones.
