FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Our staffing is based upon the individual care needs of our residents as well as the current number of residents. Staffing will vary based upon these ratios.
Upon move in a resident receives initial assessment by the community nurse with follow up assessments at 30 days and 90 days. Thereafter an assessment is completed every 90 days or if there are any significant changes.
Our staff are trained in assisting our memory care residents with prompting and cueing while still encouraging residents to be as independent as possible during mealtime. Meals are served in courses on specialized dinnerware designed purposefully for residents with cognitive impairment. We create modified menus for our memory care neighborhoods to promote a successful dining experience.
We serve a variety of options at every meal, with table service for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days per week. Our menu is chef prepared and dietician supervised.
We prioritize communication between staff and family regarding resident’s overall health. We utilize a family call program in which a community leader checks in with families about their loved one and any community updates.
Scheduled transportation is offered to AL residents.

Each of our communities has a secured front entrance and visitors must sign in and out each time they enter and exit the community.
Our memory care programming follows an approach called My Day. Research shows that stimulating different parts of the brain during certain times of the day is most beneficial for the resident with dementia. We incorporate the concepts of mind, body, and spirit into our programming to ensure that all resident needs are being met. We think it is important to engage the resident as a whole person and utilize creative expressions such as art and music, cognitive stimulation, social gatherings, and spiritual activities. We utilize person-centered care to engage residents in reminiscing, including personalized stations and kits that focus on resident occupation, hobbies, and interests. See our activities calendar to learn more.
All memory care staff are certified in a person-centered training called CARES. Staff is re-certified every two years. In addition, they receive monthly education focused on dementia specific topics, including but not limited to dementia related behaviors, the dementia disease process, personal care for residents with dementia, and how to engage a resident with dementia in meaningful activity.
Our egress doors are alarm activated.
We staff according to resident need. Each resident is assessed by our nursing team to determine their individual care plan, including how many staff it takes to safely assist a resident with care, prompting and cueing needed from staff, behaviors, medications, assistive devices, etc. We base our staffing on the level of care needed within our building.
There is a variety of shopping, worship services and restaurants nearby.
The average age of residents in AL is 85. Women tend to outnumber men 3 to 1. Favorite activities include Bingo, cards, crafts and musical entertainment.
