FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
The average age at The Retreat at Buford is 85 years old. Our residents enjoy bingo, lunch and shopping outings, singing along with entertainers and happy hour! They also enjoy gathering around our inviting lobby fireplace and in the warmer weather, sitting out front and enjoying the breeze with friends.
We provide daily exercise, arts and crafts, games, gardening, church services and a variety of other interesting programs and activities.
The Mall of Georgia is a quick two minute drive from our campus. The area has a plethora of shopping, dining and entertainment venues. The residents frequently visit the area for twice weekly outings.
We bring our residents shopping and dining. We also provide transportation for residents to doctor's appointments when located within a 10 mile radius of our campus.
We offer restaurant style dining for our residents. Multiple home-cooked choices are offered at each meal to ensure the residents have a variety of tastes, textures, and nutrition at each sitting. There is something for everyone no matter what your preference!
We provide each resident with a pendant to our call system. At the push of a button we can respond to their needs. We also have Front Desk Concierge staff at our entrance to not only assist residents and family members, but they also keep a watchful eye on the comings and goings of all who enter the building. We have all visitors sign in at the front desk at our Accushield system. Our front doors are also on a timer and set to automatically lock at 6pm and unlock at 8am. We provide a code to the families for access to our building during these times when the doors are locked.
We have wonderful Resident Care Associates and Med Techs on staff who are constantly talking to the families about their loved one's day and their health. We have a Family Experience Director and a Wellness Director who both update Care Plans and meet with the families about their loved one's health. We also regularly send out mass emails about upcoming special events and happenings at The Retreat at Buford. We have a presence on Facebook where we put pictures of our outings and special events.
We love pets here at The Retreat at Buford! We have plenty of space in the front of our building and also a secured interior courtyard for them to play.
The staff receives regular ongoing training at our monthly meetings. Also, each employee must complete specialized dementia training within six months of hire. We regularly provide training on subjects such as resident care, activities, nutrition, dining services and safety.
Our secure Memory Care unit is locked and accessible to care staff by keypad. There is also a private and fenced courtyard just for our Memory Care Residents. Each Memory Care room is equipped with motion sensors to alert staff if a resident is awake at night to help prevent falls.
