FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Pre-Covid, our activities outside the building ranged from going to the Casino to having lunch downtown at the Walnut Room in Macy’s… and so much more…. It will be starting up again since our community has gotten the Covid-19 Vaccine.
Our Community has a 24-hour Concierge that responds to any request. An “I’m ok” program in which we check on all Independent Residents every morning. We also have an Independent Living RN Nurse who responds to residents Monday thru Friday. She offers a Blood Pressure Clinic and helps scheduling Doctor Appointments for residents who have chosen to see the Doctors that come to our community.
These ratios vary depending on the level of care of the residents. We always meet the state's minimum requirements, however, if resident care requires additional staffing, we will bring in additional caregivers.
Our community does not accept any potential residents who would wander.
Our residents love Newton Park which is located next to our community. Lots of football, softball, tennis, walking path and in the winter, a sledding hill. We are also within walking distance of a wonderful shopping area with restaurants, grocery stores, and banks.
Our residents range in age from 62 to 100 years young. Their favorite things to do vary. They love to eat together and do activities with the Independent Living Residents. Play many different types of games, listen to entertainers and visit with family and friends.
People choose us because our Dining Director, Jim Rollins, who has been with our community for 17 years, creates 5-star dining experiences for our residents every single day. Jim takes pride in his cuisine and appreciates any and all feedback to create the best experience for every resident. Jim does this by scheduling Dining Chats so any and all residents can share their opinions and suggestion on previous and upcoming menu items.
Brookdale as a company REQUIRES staff training monthly to keep updated with all requirements.
The residents range in age from 62 years old to 103 years old! The average age is 80. Some favorite things to do are walking club, water aerobics, listening to lectures and watching movies and so much more!
Our community accepts cats anywhere in the building. We also accept dogs, but on our first floor only since we have Newton Park right next to us, the resident can take their dog for a walk around the park.

Our common areas consist of our Main Lobby, our Club Room (Pool table and space for games, cards, and puzzles), our Activity Room for arts and crafts, etc. and our outdoor courtyard for Spring, Summer, and Fall which has a garden area for those that enjoy gardening. We also have an Indoor Pool and Hot Tub.
Our community has a bus that is free to all residents within a 7-mile radius. The service is free to all residents to go to Doctor Appointments, shopping, family visits, etc as long as they are scheduled.
Our Health and Wellness Nurse who runs the Assisted Living Floor is in contact with each family about their loved one. Also, our Executive Director sends out periodic updates about anything going on in the community that the family needs to be aware of.
We offer a variety of programs to keep our residents as active as possible depending on their needs.
Depending on the ability of the resident, we have Newton Park next door and or an outdoor garden for them to enjoy the sunshine and maybe do a little gardening if they are able.
Our community has an RN Nurse specifically for Independent Living residents as previously mentioned that will assess the resident situation and be able to help, have them contact their physician/family, and suggest what assistance is needed.
All AL residents have pull cords in their apartments as well as a pendant around their neck at all times to call for help when needed. Nurses and CNA’s are available 24 hours a day to respond to any resident request.
In Assisted Living we only allow cats. No dogs.
