FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
The overall population is that of able minded and physically well rounded individuals- primarily women- that are able to do most activities of daily life with minimal to average amounts of assistance from associates. The average age of the population is ages 85-95. Some of our residents favorite things to do are spend time outdoors (weather permitting), play bingo, and enjoy live entertainment or sing songs from their favorite eras!
We offer 24 hour staffing seven days a week that are fully trained in all medical and clinical aspects. We also offer monthly learning programs for staff members that keep them learning and growing with the needs of our residents. We also offer therapy and programs specific to different needs based on the residents physical and mental abilities that help them to live the most optimum and healthy life for as long as possible.
Our Executive Director, Audrey, keeps all families in the loop with updates by sending out emails at the earliest instance that families are needed to be notified. We also have an open door and communication policy with all families that they can reach out to our nurse, ED, or any staff member at any time with any updates or concerns that they might have at any time.
We have a local community transportation service called Derby Dash that allows for transportation in and around the Wichita Area with wheelchair accessible options. They will pick up from our community and bring them back from whatever appointments or events they need transportation for. Our bus is also available for doctor appointments or other errands within a 10 mile radius.
We welcome a local daycare, Mary’s Little Lambs, to come into our community to perform skits and sing songs for our residents that bring them smiles to their faces once a month. On top of that we are right down the street from the Derby Library that allows us to visit frequently and “refresh” our library books monthly. The senior center that allows for outside activities, dinners, volunteer work, and social opportunities is also just a quick zip down the street that makes for easy access to our local options for resident engagement.
We staff to acuity instead of number of residents to ensure we always have the appropriate number of associates to safely care for each of our resident's needs.
Our associates participate in monthly Learning Modules that are specific to the needs of our community and level of care that our residents need. We also have a monthly in-service meeting that allows for staff to get educational opportunities as requested upon by administration.
Our Resident Program Coordinator has a passion for crafts, music, and owns a Christmas Tree Farm! So year round, but especially during the holidays, we have festive and interactive options for the residents to be fully immersed in the spirit of the season! From enjoying donuts and homemade cider from the tree farm, to actually getting out and exploring and visiting the tree farm and other fun outings- we always have activities that give them purpose and excitement for every day!
Our Dietary Manager Jaci strives to make our residents dining experience the best it can be by learning likes and dislikes by monthly Resident Menu Chats. We also feature a Resident Choice Meal were the residents have a voice in creating the menu for a meal that can give them that craving fix they might be having. She also incorporates resident’s favorite family recipes into our menu that ensure increased appetite and great nutrition in each and every meal for residents.
We are a fully secured community. All of our doors can only be accessible with a code that is private and secure to associates only. Residents may leave and return to the community as they choose but must be signed out and back in with a loved one or friend. Our community is also constructed in a square format- this helps residents who wander and enjoy walking the halls avoid getting lost or running into a dead end. So in essence if they continue to follow the natural flow of the halls they will always run back into a place where there is assistance.
We are a pet friendly community. Animals can enjoy outdoor space in our courtyard found in the center of the community that is accessible to all residents at any time (granted that staff is aware).
