FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
We have numerous fitness and dance classes to fit all, daily, we have personal trainers and fun activities to suit all. We do crossword puzzles, cranium exercise, bingo, board games, crafts and so much more. Our engagement manager gets to know each individual resident and ensures we have activities scheduled to suit everyone.
IL and AL are blended so they have the same amenities available (we have an aging in place program which means residents and easily go from independent to receiving assistance discretely and without the stress of moving). We have the Tanger outlet malls, lots of fantastic restaurants, Publix grocery stores and many other places. We also have access to the Savannah Quarters golf course, Southbridge golf course, club houses, gym, outdoor pools and more.
We are not affiliated with one particular hospital. We are fortunate enough to have great working relationships with both of the major hospitals here locally.
We have the latest door key technology therefore residents suites remain locked at all times. Our technology only allows certain people into certain suites and when someone enters that particular area, a sensor tells our computer system, therefore we know exactly who is in the suite and when they leave. We also have a concierge on staff until 11pm daily and our external doors lock at 8pm. We also have real time camera systems outside and in the communal areas of our building.
Our Director of Health and Wellness assesses all of our residents regularly. She has a team of RNs that work under her leadership but she directly likes to achieve all assessments. We do assessments more regularly than most, simply because if our staff notes any changes, the Health and Wellness Director likes to check on that resident herself.
Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. We own 10 acres of land therefore surrounded by trees, ponds and grass areas. The neighborhood opposite our building comprises of new beautiful houses. There is also a small bridge leading towards more family homes.
We have two vehicles, an SUV and Shuttle. Included in the monthly rent, we offer transportation daily for each of our residents.
1 member of staff to every 12 residents in our Assisted Living and 1 member of staff to every 10 residents in our memory care, although right now it is more like 1 to 6 simply because we are new and have more staff than needed right now.
Tanger Shopping, Publix shopping, Casino night with the chamber, ALZ walk, downtown Savannah tour, coming up we have Oatland Island Wildlife reserve, Beach trip, Bingo at the Elks and many others.
Average age is 78. The unique age in place program allows residents to maintain their independence and is discrete for those that need a little extra assistance.
Bunco and name that tune seem to be popular as well as card games and our day trips.
We have a locked memory care community. To leave through our assisted living communal doors, you have to physically press a button to exit a long with cameras, staff and navigation technology in each resident's pendant.
We do 30 hours of CEUs in senior care related topics. Plus we give all of our Caregivers the opportunity to train as Medical Assistants to help them advance their career and potentially earn more money.
We have a Publix approximately half a mile away and the Tanger outlet mall is less than 5 miles up the road. There are many amenities close to the community including churches, YMCA, Savannah Quarters Clubhouse and outdoor pool. Included in the monthly rent, residents have transportation available to them daily.
Email, calendar, mail and we have our own closed social media feed especially for family members.
We communicate very well with our Shepherd families. We invite them to participate in activities, eat at our restaurant, drink at our tavern and use our fitness and spa amenities whenever they like. While our first priority will always be our residents, we understand that the extended family involvement will help our residents flourish. We are proud of our community, we are proud of our residents, we want our family members to be proud too.
We have our own team of registered nurses that work onsite 24/7. We also give all of our care staff the opportunity to train as medical assistants to encourage self development and an opportunities to increase their earnings.
Daily transport is available to each of our residents. We have an SUV and shuttle.
Thermo spa including heated lounges, jacuzzi and saunas, outdoor plunge pool, tavern, lounges, recreation room, wellness gym, wellness studio, greenhouse, fire pit, two courtyards, porches, Farm to table restaurant and Salon.
We have a full Farm to table restaurant that is open all day everyday. There are no set meal times therefore residents each their meals whenever they are ready too. We have a full menu seems though we are open to the general public as well, as well as daily specials. Our menu rotates on a 5 week cycle.
We have several different activities daily. We ensure we stimulate residents physically, mentally and emotionally. We encourage families to supply pictures of our residents from their younger years and then show them on a large flat screened tv. Our residents are wonderful at recalling those pictures and some of them can even describe what they were doing that day.
We are open to the general public therefore we have a full menu and daily specials to choose from. We have a full licensed bar, therefore residents can have a glass of wine or cocktail with dinner should they wish to do so and we are open all day with no set meal times.
We have a large grassed area towards the side of the building as well as a path that covers the parameter of our community. There are also several walking opportunities within the neighborhood.
We partner with the Alzheimer's Association for ongoing training every quarter, as well as the Edel Caregivers Institute for training on Alzheimers from the loved ones eyes. All of our staff receive 30 hours of ongoing training every year.
Since we have a large number of staff, we are able to have a staff member assist with two people should they need it. Each resident has a different need. Fortunately we are able to cater to those needs with ease but without loosing the good nutrition value and quality of the food.
Our staff ratios are 1-10 residents usually however, we are proud to state that our current ratio is 1 to every 2 clients during the day and 1 to every 4 clients at night.
There is an allocated area at the front of the building as well as many different walking options around the community and/or neighborhood.
70 is the average age of our Independent living. Some of our independent residents still work and some take advantage of our thermo spa, greenhouse, tavern, lounges and more.
State of the art locking technology allows us to see who comes and goes within our community and includes cameras, secure communal locking system and assigned key system. We also have staff in place to check the grounds at night.
