Our overall population of residents at The Wellington are highly independent with an average age of late 70's to early 80's. Residents enjoy our courtyard, weekly bus trips in the community, seasonal outings to the state fair and apple orchard, crafting, live music, and Tasty Tuesday treats prepared by the kitchen.
The Wellington at Southport offers a weekly trip to the grocery store or Walmart, scheduled transportation to physician visits, as well as seasonal trips to destinations such as the apple orchard, casino, State Fair and more!
Dayshift here at The Wellington consists of two nurses and one aid to 64 possible residents and night shift consists of one nurse and one aid to 64 possible residents.
During the day our memory care unit has a nurse, aid and activities Director on staff. During our night shift our memory care unit has one nurse and aid available.
The Wellington is located across the street from a bustling shopping center that offers everything from dining and entertainment to everyday conveniences. With shops such as Walmart and Dollar Tree, restaurants such as IHOP and Metro Diner, and other stores just steps away, residents enjoy the perfect blend of comfort, connection, and opportunity. Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a day of shopping, or access to local professionals and other amenities, this community has it all within reach.
Our Director of nursing assesses our residents health a cognitive functioning regularly every 6 months or if any changes are noticed they are assessed immediately.
The Wellington is not affiliated with one specific hospital however are residents most commonly receive treatment at Community Hospital South.
Families receive a weekly email about updates in the community. In addition, Nursing staff communicates with family daily as needed to inform them of any changes in condition or needs.
Here at The Wellington, we provide a locked community.
Residents can expect restaurant style dining with a family style daily special and an always available menu.
The Wellington at Southport is a pet friendly community. We offer a completely enclosed courtyard for our residents pets to enjoy as well as throughout the community itself as long as they are on a leash.
Here at The Wellington we have security cameras throughout all main common areas and halls of the community. Our community is also completely secure from the outside so all visitors in and out of our community are monitored.
The staff here at our community receive yearly certification in dementia and Alzheimer's as well as quarterly training in our memory care unit program.
