The overall population for assisted living residents is anywhere from being very independent to needing help with daily care. The average age of the assisted living population is 85. Favorite things to do is Bingo, attend Church, socialize in the dining room at mealtime, 500 card club, listen to musical entertainers, and therapy dog visits.
Prairie Meadows has a wealth of program and activities offerings. The Life Enrichment Coordinator schedules music groups to come and perform, Nickel bingo offered at least twice a week, church service is held in the chapel with area clergy leading the service on Thursdays. Bible study weekly, Live 2B Healthy exercise class lead by a certified personal trainer on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. These are just a sample of what is offered each week.
Places that are near Prairie Meadows in Kasson that residents like to go to are, the Veterans Park that is in walking distance of Prairie Meadows. Erdman's grocery store, Dollar General, two banks, Mayo Family Clinic, chiropractor offices, dentist offices, salons, and other businesses are all located within a mile of Prairie Meadows.
Prairie Meadows offers scheduled local transportation via a van for residents to go to doctor appointments, shopping, and other appointments in Kasson.
Prairie Meadows chef provides three home cooked meals served restaurant-style daily. The dining experience starts in the morning with a continental breakfast, noon and evening meal offers a self serve salad bar, home made soups, followed by a choice of different entrees for the main course. For dessert the server will bring out a tray of choices to select from, including a sugar free choice.
Prairie Meadows provides emergency pendants for all residents to wear, I am OK program, and locked doors during the night time hours.
Prairie Meadows keeps families informed about their loved ones through face to face conversations, telephone and email communication.
The care staff to resident ratio is 1 to 38 with the majority of the residents being very independent with minimal services of Medication administration.
Prairie Meadows has a designated area for dogs to play and also a walking trail that goes for miles just a couple of blocks away from Prairie Meadows. Dogs and cats need to be on a leash when out of the residents apartment.
The staff at Prairie Meadows goes through a very extensive online training program from Relias. Ongoing training is also provided by the Nursing Department which consists of RN's and LPN's.
Prairie Meadows has a secured Memory Unit call Rose Court where the door is controlled by an alarm system to let staff know when someone is going out the door.
