Average age of our residents is 85 years old. They enjoy arts and crafts, eating out with the Lunch Bunch, socializing and enjoying musical entertainment. We have an active group of residents who also enjoy a trip to the casino on a regular basis.
? Brookdale Hattiesburg 1 provides many options to enrich the lives of their residents. Our activities provide emotional, physical, social, spiritual and intellectual fulfillment giving each resident a feeling of purpose and sense of belonging. Some activities provided are worship services, socials, sharing of their talents and hobbies, Be Fit exercise, appreciating the arts and Trivia games,,, and as always Bingo.
Our campus is between two universities, University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University, which gives us access to dinner theaters, educational and intellectual presentations and the arts. We are also in close proximity to downtown Hattiesburg where one can find the historic Saenger Theater, the park and the historic Train Depot which all host various events throughout the year.
We provide transportation to various outside activities, regular trips to restaurants, frequent shopping trips and to doctor’s appointments.
We provide well balanced meals designed by our dieticians. We serve a variety of foods , and we always have alternate meals to choose depending on preference. Our food is “home cooking” and is delicious. Each meal, the resident is provided a menu from which to order.
We have staff around the clock, and we are in close proximity to police and fire departments. We have 24/7 fire panel monitoring.
We keep our residents’ families informed through mail and email; however, we also call them before special events to give a personal invitation to be a part of our community events. We also send handwritten notes from time to time as a personal touch.
Daytime ratio for staff to resident is 1 to 15 and 1 to 25 at night.
We do accept pets here at Brookdale Hattiesburg. We have beautiful grounds in a wooded setting with plenty of room for pets to get daily exercise and enjoy time outdoors.
Our associates have ongoing training monthly on caring for seniors, safety, infection control, resident rights, abuse and neglect, and many other areas that are important to meeting the needs of our residents.
We have a memory care on our campus which is designed to care for those who are prone to wander.
