We had to include pet-friendly Atria Forest Hills in our list of Long Island\'s top 10 assisted living facilities for its resort-like amenities that make it a luxurious and entertaining setting for seniors. Located in Flushing, directly across from Willow Lake, the residence contains a plush movie theater with a large screen and popcorn machine, a well-equipped fitness center and a cheerful bistro where residents can enjoy breakfast with fresh fruits and steaming coffee. Seniors with an affinity for art and music can peruse the on-site art gallery and attend concerts by visiting musicians, and those with pets can spend relaxing afternoons on the shady outdoor terrace with their furry friends.
What Residents are Saying:
Visiting family members appreciate the helpful staff and extensive social offerings. \"My grandmother lived at the Atria for several years, and ... they really took very good care of her,\" one said. \"The staff was great, the room was really nice and clean, the food was good, and there was entertainment and exercise classes.\"

Our Methodology

It’s not what we research, but the way we research that makes AssistedLiving.org stand out. We start by identifying problems and challenges in the senior care industry by gaining insight from conversations with industry professionals, older adults, and those that care for them. Next, our research team led by industry experts apply our data-driven research techniques to understand the magnitude of the challenge and how to overcome it. Finally, we present our findings in easy-to-understand guides and studies and share our actionable results with influencers and caregivers, as well as the general public.
