FAQ About Manor Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care
Average age will be typical in our industry of around 85 years of age, however at Beacon Crest Senior Living we have seniors in their early 70's living an active lifestyle and being proactive. Some still work and enjoy being doted on, others are there in case of emergencies in the future.
We have a robust activities calendar that is planned monthly by our active seniors. We have community parties weekly in which the public and local senior centers attend for a complimentary dinner, prizes, games, and cultivating new hobbies taught by professionals. We go to Jazz games, the Tulip Festival, Leonardo Museum, The Porcupine Grill, Senior Expo, as well as things done in the building like professional art classes, personal trainers, travel club, book club, woodworking, and more!
Beacon Crest is right off of the main road surrounded by the vast majority of all businesses in the Draper area. It is a 30-second car ride to most anywhere to do your shopping.
We have a car as well as a luxury van that can accommodate a large group, small group, or a single person. Transportation is always complimentary and available 7 days a week.
At Beacon Crest Senior Living we hire culinary-trained, private chefs. Our residents have the luxury of ordering food from a hearty menu, including the chef's specials offered all day every day. Our residents are able to order most anything they'd like while the Executive Chef takes his time getting to know your preferences, desires, and favorites foods or desserts
We have a myriad of products to keep you or your loved one safe. We have call pendants for your neck or wrist that never need to be removed. We have pull cords in our bathrooms, and can even assist those with memory loss by providing them a true watch that cannot be removed and has GPS location on it at all times. Our caregivers are able to ensure the safety of those who desire independence but may not be able to always navigate the places they are in. We have more options to create a secure environment for those who need more oversight.
Our community is small and tight knit--designed specifically to be that way. Our Nurse, Care Director, Activities Director, Chef, and Executive Director are all only a phone call or text away 24/7. We've committed to a field where life happens 24/7, and that is why we choose to remain available as needed. With one of our signatures being our weekly parties, there is constant mail, email, phone calls, or texts so that everyone might be able to stay in the loop. Healthcare questions for you or your loved ones are able to be answered as quickly as possible, and the team is aware of what our resident's conditions and needs are. We can take over as much or as little as you'd like us to for you or your loved one so that you may come and enjoy just being the spouse, friend, child, grandchild, etc.
Our staff ratio is the best in the business. This is exactly why Beacon Crest was designed the way it was. We want to serve more seniors but never have a resident feel like a number. Having two mansions on campus gives us the ability to serve up to 55 residents throughout 38 apartments. 19 apartments are in each building so that we staff very highly whether it's total and complete cares, or doting on a senior who may need some TLC. You can plan on about 5:1 in the daytime hours and 15:1 in the night.
We are a pet-friendly community who loves to have pets visit their loved ones or with family. Coming in the Summer 2020 we will expand to have gardens, walkways, and benches for our four legged visitors and residents to enjoy.
The staff has monthly state, care, and memory care for our entire team, including management, caregivers, chef's, housekeeping, etc. Continuing education is a big priority to us and we have several documented training's within the month.
We have several systems in place to assist with residents who wander. We are able to have wander guards on their apartment doors that ring to our caregivers any time the door is opened. It is silent and dignified so the resident themselves are not aware there is something being monitored. We have alarms at night on all exit doors during the late/early morning hours. We have beautiful watches that have GPS locators in them that cannot be removed. The caregiver is the only one who can remove the watch to assist in charging the watch as needed. These are some of the numerous systems we have in place to keep our residents safe. If you'd like to hear about more options, please contact us!
